Common Insulation Materials Used in Transformers
As core fundamental components of transformers, insulation materials directly determine the operational stability and service life of equipment. They serve two major functions: electrical insulation and mechanical support. They isolate live components to prevent short circuits and breakdowns, and fix windings to withstand vibration and impact forces caused by short circuits.
I. Three Major Categories of Insulation Materials
1. Gaseous insulation: Air, sulfur hexafluoride, etc. Mostly applied in high-voltage dry-type transformers with flame retardant and explosion-proof properties.
2. Liquid insulation: Transformer mineral oil. It soaks insulation parts and dissipates heat simultaneously.
3. Solid insulation: The core insulating substrate for oil-immersed and dry-type transformers, with a full range of customizable specifications.
II. Baite's Special Solid Insulation Materials for Transformers
1. Diamond Dotted Paper Series (Interlayer & Interturn Insulation for Oil-immersed Transformers)
Standard diamond dotted paper, AMA dotted paper and DMD dotted paper. They automatically bond windings under high temperature, resist short-circuit stress and extend transformer service life.
2. Prepreg Flexible Insulation (For Dry-type Transformers & Reactors)
Class F Impregnated DMD (thermal resistance 155℃) and Class H SHS Prepreg (thermal resistance 180℃), used for interlayer and ground insulation of coils.
3. Paper-based Processed Parts
Crepe paper, electrical pressboard, insulating paper cylinders, corner rings, oil-channel brace strips and insulating molded parts below 220kV. They act as winding support frames, oil passage separators and main insulation.
4. Rigid Structural Insulation Parts
Laminated wood, glass fiber pultruded I-shaped braces, epoxy resin boards and GPO-3 insulation boards, applied as pressure plates, spacers, ventilation supports and phase barriers.
5. Slitting Tapes for Magnet Wires
Slitting tapes made of cable paper, PET and non-woven fabric, for outer wrapping insulation of magnet wires.
III. Advantages of Baite Products
Equipped with self-owned production and processing lines, we provide slitting, molding and drawing customization services. Our products fit oil-immersed transformers, dry-type transformers, reactors, instrument transformers and high/low voltage motors.
Our insulation materials resist multiple stresses including high temperature, short circuits and vibration, reducing equipment failure risks and prolonging overall service life.
